This story was a little difficult to read. The author used block paragraphs, no indents. Now that's fine if you have a blank line between paragraphs, but he didn't. So everything kind of ran together.The premise was hard to buy. A man comes into a strange town. He has next to no money and doesn't know where his next meal is coming from. He's a drifter, a hobo, not the type of person known for being in superb physical condition. But a wealthy stranger selects him for a critical task that requires bushwhacking through the jungle for days.
The story's saving grace is that the author can write. Once I let go of the premise, the author kept me engaged, turning the pages. I needed to see what happened. The ending, however, was disappointing.
This story is a combination sci-fi thriller. I felt it deserved a rating of 3.5 stars, maybe a little higher.

Not very long and a bit forced in parts but an interesting story. It was worth the time I spent reading it on the plane.
Simon could easily write a drama ,detective novel. His story about two men and a chance to become rich is neat.
The jungles of wherever, paint the scene nicely and the scene is reminiscent of a Science article about possible strange happenings in the jungle some 100-200 years ago, give it a ring of authenticity or possibility.
Nice short story ,again a desert piece or just before lights out.
Not my favorite kind of story. It was free of obvious errors. But it wasn't Hal. It did have Simon's famous sense of humor. But the rest of the story just wasn't what I look for in a story. I suggest it for guys, though.
